I grew up at church pretty much any time the doors were open. My grandpa was a pastor, and my mom has been the church pianist for decades. I did Awana. I did Bible quizzing. I went to Bible college. (Trust me, if there was a verse to memorize, I probably memorized it.) So when my mother-in-law started politely asking me where a few of my beliefs were actually found in the Bible, my first thought was... bring it on. And at first, I had answers. Lots of them. Until I started running into questions I couldn’t answer. Verses I’d somehow never noticed. And things I’d been sure of for years started looking a lot less solid. It was honestly pretty unsettling. None of it had ever sounded wrong. It came with Bible verses attached. Everyone around me believed it. Why would I question it? Chances are you’re hearing about God from more voices than ever right now: sermon clips, pretty verse graphics, podcasts, books, friends, family, and whatever the algorithm serves up next. And most of it is probably really good! But some of it might be just a little bit off... A verse pulled slightly out of context. A saying you’ve heard your whole life. Advice that’s ALMOST right. Would you catch it? That’s what we’re digging into on the podcast today. For this episode of the Equipping Godly Women podcast, I’m sharing how to spot false teaching (even when it sounds biblical). I’m walking you through six simple warning signs that something might be off, plus a quick gut-check question for each one. You won’t need a Bible degree or hours of extra study. And you can keep right on learning from the pastors, authors, and teachers you love. In this episode, we talk about:

If you’ve ever assumed you’d catch anything that wasn’t biblical, this episode will show you what tends to slip past (and what to do about it). -- Brittany Ann Equipping Godly Women p.s. Ever hear something and think, “Wait... doesn’t the Bible say something different?” I go much deeper on this in my book, Fall in Love with God’s Word, including a whole chapter on recognizing incorrect teaching (even when it's sneaky). It’ll also help you build a Bible reading routine that fits your real, busy life. That way you’re in God’s Word often enough to notice when something doesn’t quite line up. Several years ago, I decided I wanted to get in the habit of reading the Bible with my kids. And lets just say... it was not going according to plan. Before I could read a word, my son RAN from the room, curled up in a corner, covered his ears, and started humming loudly so he couldn't hear me. "No! The Bible is boring!" Ignoring his overly dramatic, attention-seeking antics, I read a chapter of Acts out loud anyway. Each morning, I'd read one chapter, explaining as I went. Until one morning...
A while back, I did a little experiment. I logged into Instagram, started scrolling, and made a list of allllll the things I felt like I "should" be doing. I *should* eat healthier. I *should* exercise. I *should* figure out how to do my hair. I *should* do more crafts with my kids. I *should* be better at talking to my husband... In almost no time at all, I had a list of 20+ things I wanted to do, learn, or improve at. These weren't even pushy, shame-y accounts. (I don't follow those.) Just...
