Do you create Easter Baskets for your kids or grandkids each year? Personally, we do a mix in our family. Some years, we give the kids an empty basket to fill with candy we've scattered inside or outside (depending on the weather). Other years, we've put some of the bigger candy items (like chocolate bunnies) right inside the basket and let the kids go on an Easter egg hunt for the rest. Our children's grandparents will often give our children candy, bubbles, and/or small toys -- whether through an Easter egg hunt, in a basket, or in a bag. Or they'll simply mail cards with cash or a few bags of candy for the kids to share. It varies! β Yet, simply loading our kids up with way too much brightly colored candy doesn't really do anything to share WHY Easter is so important. And if we're not careful, we can easily make the day all about the treats and practically forget all about Jesus. π¬ β Now, don't get me wrong... I'm a BIG fan of Easter candy. (My husband and I always stay up late the night before, eating plenty of candy ourselves as we fill the kids' plastic eggs!) But we do also need to be intentional about teaching our children the real reason we celebrate each year. Thankfully, keeping our focus on Jesus this Easter doesn't have to be difficult. One suggestion?
